thermoplastic co-extrusion process. Responsibilities relate to design of products and
supporting extrusion tooling for manufacturing in addition to maintenance, continuous
improvement, daily operations, production troubleshooting and lean activities. Interact with
local and global teams to bring divisional alignment to our tooling technology.
The product development and tooling engineer is responsible to see product ideas through
from design and development to serial production. Define, plan and monitor site tooling
activities including managing cost, purchasing and inventory. Evaluate and learn existing
technology, current capabilities, and product requirements to develop tooling specifications
that enable efficient manufacturing.
The successful candidate must be able to use their knowledge of mechanical design,
systematic processing approaches to engineer custom solutions, improve current designs,
interface with vendors, and enable usage of best in class technology. Knowledge of
engineered thermoplastic materials is preferred.
Responsibilities:
Create drawings and mock-ups of product ideas, generate and test prototypes,
develop cost models, specify raw materials, and qualify vendors, create product
and process specifications, develop and specify new manufacturing processes
or equipment as needed.
• Lead the design and development of new products and product engineering
using industry best practices, statistical methods, tolerance stack ups, design of
experiments and other quality tools.
• Design and oversee all new tool builds and equipment for production to meet
customer specifications; ensure tools are delivered to internal requirements and
best practices within timelines.
• Lead the process qualification for and transition to full-scale production.
Apply creative thinking, analysis, and good judgement to propose innovative

during shutdowns and startups; share the same with tooling vendor for repairs
and regular maintenance.
• Run daily control loop on tooling performance; resolve production challenges;
create and track key performance indicators.
• Develop, evaluate, and improve tooling methodology including documenting into
specifications, standard work processes and tracking metrics.
• Investigate and set up a local supply chain for tooling; identify, negotiate, and
build long term partnership; responsible for vendor management – daily
interaction, training on specifications, repairs and meets our standards and
