Echo Cardiographer

$37.48 - $54.72/Hour

A prominent medical center in Northwest Illinois is seeking a trained/certified Echo Tech to conduct various types of echocardiograms to properly monitor and diagnose patients to ensure the best possible treatment.

Job Requirements:

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge to perform all requested echocardiography examinations
  • Attend staff meetings and complete mandatory in-services and requirements and competency evaluations on time
  • Demonstrate flexibility related to varying demand for services
  • Adhere to policy and procedure regarding all aspects of medication safety
  • Participate in teaching Cardiology Fellows from the University of Connecticut Medical School and Echocardiographer students from the Hoffman Heart School of Ultrasound
  • Pursue ongoing continuing education to comply with Continuing Education Requirements
  • Attended training and demonstrates usage of age- specific customer service skills
  • Adhere to the hospital and departmental attendance and punctuality guidelines
  • Carrying out the daily functions and diagnostic studies performed by the Cardiopulmonary Department as outlined in the department's policy and procedure manual
  • Perform correct exams after accurate patient identification and order verification
  • Complete all required paperwork & tracking associated with services provided by the department./li
  • Assure that echocardiography equipment be maintained as required by the manufacturer and by hospital equipment requirements
  • Experiencing a wide range of disease processes including that are acute and life-threatening to that are planned diagnostic studies
  • Provide patient care based upon evaluation of the patient
  • Evaluate ultrasound video for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality
  • Evaluate nature of critical and emergency procedures and rearrange patient priorities
  • Prepare facilities in accordance with procedural requirements; calibrate equipment as required by the institution
  • Maintain clean and pleasant environment
  • Attend and participate in department staff meetings for departmental problem solving, goal setting, and development of patient education material

Requirements:

  • Education that includes completion from an accredited school in echocardiography required.
  • Successful completion of registry through ARMDS (American Registered Medical Diagnostic Sonographers) or CCI (Cardiology Credentialing International) within 3 months of employment.
  • BLS Required within 30 days of hire.
  • Able to assess and interpret data about the patient’s status in order to identify each patient’s needs and provide the appropriate care, including age-related care, needed by the neonate, pediatric, adolescent and/or geriatric patient group preferred.
