Job Requirements of Bereavement Counselor:
Qualifications:
- Master’s degree in social work or related field required.
- One year experience or education in grief support and mental health
Hospice experience preferred. - Specific experience in action and behavior focused group facilitation, individual support, family systems, geriatrics, human development, and behavior, facilitating adjustment to loss, catastrophic illness and suicide risk assessment
Includes knowledge of child and adolescent development. - Competence with the technical components necessary to complete the job.

Bereavement Counselor
Bereavement Counselor
This is a full-time onsite position: 3 days 8:30am to 5pm & 2 days 11:30am - 8pm with occasional weekend events
Make a profound impact by helping individuals of all ages navigate through the difficult journey of grief and loss after hospice. As a Bereavement Counselor in our hospice facility, you'll play a vital role in implementing our comprehensive support services, providing personalized care from assessment to goal achievement. You'll work with both adults and children, offering short-term counseling that focuses on emotional and psychosocial support to foster healing and adjustment.
Job Summary
- Implements the established bereavement support services and protocols through client assessment, goal setting, plan of care implementation, progress evaluation, documentation, advocacy, and coordination of service delivery until client goal resolution is achieved.
- Clients are defined as adults and children.
- Provides short term bereavement counseling through emotional and psychosocial support and services to assist with issues related to grief, loss, and adjustment.
